Kellen Winslow Surgery, Consequences

Via CNN/SI:
Browns tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. had successful surgery Tuesday to repair the right knee ligament he tore in a motorcycle accident.

...

Winslow, who will miss the 2005 season, was already at home recovering, the Browns said. He will begin a rehabilitation program immediately. Typically, players with Winslow's type of injury take nine months to recover.

On Monday, Winslow disclosed for the first time that in addition to the knee injury, he lacerated his liver and kidney, bruised his right shoulder and cracked a bone in his upper right leg in the crash.
Winslow will most likely have to return a portion of his signing bonus as a result of breaking the "dangerous activities" clause in his contract.

If you think about it, that's not that high a price to pay. He should thank his lucky stars he's not up for this year's Darwin Awards.

Comments:
How much did he lose for riding a motorcycle? I figure I save $6000 a year from riding rather than driving to work. I just wondered if it was worth it to him.

A portion of 4.4 million is what he'll be losing, not to count his health, another full season of NFL ball, his dignity, and on, and on...

what price do you put on life, hes alive thats the main thing. Hope he gets well soon.
